Paying for Treatment with Insurance

paying for treatment with insuranceI have Insurance for Treatment: Now what?

Okay, you’ve called six different places giving them your information for paying for treatment with insurance and they’re not going to help unless you can come up with an additional five grand. Unfortunately, the financial toll of the addiction itself has depleted the coffers, so for you, that five thousand might as well be five million  – You just don’t have it. Yes, there are ways for those of modest means to receive the help they need without going bankrupt. We know the frustration. Just because the phone number on the back of your insurance card hasn’t proven to be any help whatsoever,  that doesn’t mean end of story. What you’re told may not be the bottom line.

Just as your tax preparer has extensive knowledge that you may not on what can best benefit you, we are aligned with literally hundreds of treatment options that you may not even know exist. Our staff treats each case individually to find the best course to suit your own particular needs,  ensuring that you or your loved one receives the best care available no matter what your circumstances. Many find that whopping deductible is no longer a barrier.

Paying for Treatment with Insurance is Possible

approvedinsuranceMaybe you need a payment plan. Even though you have a steady income, your savings have been drained and you can’t meet that deductible and out-of-pocket expenses. Worse yet, one of the places you’ve called doesn’t do insurance billing at all – they want you to do the filing and have the insurance reimburse you. Again, we know which places will work with you in paying for treatment with insurance. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities to find a place that offers scholarships that will take care of that deductible all together. If not, we have access to medical lenders that may be of help. None of that addresses your needs? Don’t throw your hands up yet, there are still a few more options.  And we can help you to find them.

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs and Insurance.  Then and Now

In the ’70s and ’80s, most in-patient treatment centers welcomed insured clients with open arms.  That since has changed, however, as insurers were balking at the inflated “$25 aspirin” hospitalization costs. The profit margin, as one can guess, was just too much, creating the need to revamp the cost/profit ratio to better suit the insurers. They win, but you lose. It is common for us to hear clients who are dismayed to discover that not only do they have to meet their normal deductible,  but now must meet  additional out-of-pocket fees as well.

Many centers have moved out of the all inclusive (managed care) models and use a tiered format instead. For example, some would prefer to detox in-house, while others expect clients to arrive after detoxing somewhere else. Some will take your HMO plans, while many more will take only PPO plans. Some will only cover detoxing benzodiazipines or alcohol, since the withdrawals can be life threatening. Detoxing from an opiate addiction may feel like it will kill you, but in reality it won’t, so it’s not covered. Even those insured with large companies like Blue Cross or Aetna have many different plans, and it can be difficult to figure out what is covered. We know the frustration, but we also know how to help.
