Emile Hirsch Checked Into Rehab After Being Charged With Assault

The now 29 year old actor who is best know for his roles in movies like “The Darkest Hour” and “The Girl Next Door” has made the headlines, but not in a good way. Emile Hirsch checked into rehab after assaulting a female Hollywood executive by putting her in a choke hold during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on January 25, 2015.A source close to Emile claims, “Emile has been a mess for a long time.” The source continues, “He’s very sweet in the right moment but he has no hesitation with showing up to a public event on substances. There’s times it seems like he’s not actually present.”

What makes this situation even more interesting is that the female he attacked was Paramount Pictures executive, Daniele Bernfeld, whom he had just met that night. According to the Hollywood executive, Daniele Bernfeld, she says she was choked by Emile Hirsch, who was calling her a “rich kid” and that she had no business being at the Sundance Film Festival. The report states that after his outburst, Daniele walked away and sat down at a table with a friend. From there the report states, “Shortly thereafter Hirsch came up from behind Bernfeld and wrapped his arm around her to put her in a choke hold.” Bernfeld’s report continues, “Hirsch pulled Bernfeld across the table and onto the floor, where he landed on top of her. While Hirsch was on top of Bernfeld he wrapped his hands around her neck.” The report states, “Bernfeld said she felt as though the front and back of her throat were touching and she remembers things going dark. Bernfeld reported that she may have momentarily blacked out.”

The report also states Hirsch acknowledged his verbal confrontation with the Hollywood executive and stated that he had “three to four alcoholic beverages” at the club. Hirsch also claims he does not have any memory of what happened at the time of these allegations.Although Hirsch is claiming that he does not recall what happen, he checked into rehab to ensure this would never happen again. A rep for Hirsch states, “Emile takes these allegations very seriously, and is devastated that any of this has occurred.” The rep continues, “A few days after the incident, Emile sought help and checked himself into an alcohol rehabilitation facility, where he remains today, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. Emile is continuing to cooperate fully with authorities.”

Although Emile Hirsch checked into rehab after the incident, if he is convicted of a third degree felony aggravated assault charge, he could face up to five years in prison along with a $5,000 fine. Hirsch is due in court March 16, 2015. Hopefully this incident was a wake up call for the actor. Checking himself into rehab was a step in the right direction. Only time will tell if he will continue down the path to a healthy, sober life.
