Drug addiction has been overwhelmingly increasing in the last decade with prescription drugs being purchased outside of pharmacies. Drugs such has oxycontin, lortab, methadone etc. These drugs are highly addictive in a magnitude comparable to illegal drugs like heroin.
Out-patient drug treatments can be used for persons that has a mild addiction to light drugs. Persons that have been using drugs for a short period of time and that has a low frequency of usage. Someone who uses drugs once or twice a month would be a candidate for out-patient. The danger of out-patient facilities is that the addict will go home at night and is risk of relapsing.
Residential drug treatment is for individuals that have a more severe addiction and also with stronger drugs. The purpose of residing in a facility is to get the person on top of the addiction with tools and intensive counseling. You want to keep the person sober for the time of the therapy and certainly after discharge from the treatment center.
Drug intervention is the process of taking an action to get an an unwilling addicted individual to the point that the person will seek treatment. This procedure can be done by the family as well as a professional interventionist.
Cocaine treatment is the most common drug treatment as cocaine is the most used drugs (beside alcohol). It is a highly addictive drug that increases the dopamine in the brain and creates a sensation of happiness. The main consequence is the crash that that follows it. It brings the user in a deep state of depression.
Heroin treatment as well as any other opiates treatment usually requires a detox. The detox is commonly medical and is supervised and monitor by a medical team. Some programs will only take patients that are detoxed from the heroin as they are not equipped in staff and facility to perform such a detox.
Methamphetamine treatment has increased more than any other substance in the last decade. The inexpensive cost of producing meth and the degree of addiction that the user experiences makes it a highly dangerous drug to be addicted to.
